GELOI WETLAND

A borderless project for a sanctuary of bird migration

Uniquenees

This is one of the most important stopping points for migratory birds since there are no other places that keep shallow water, food and shelter in the Gulf of Gela

Potential

with conservation measures and habitat restoration action, Geloi will become an oasis for migratory birds in a few years and will be added to the Sicilian south-east swamp lakes reserve.

Biodiversity

Although small, the area is already a reference point for biodiversity. Many vertebrate and invertebrate species find refuge here.
